July 9, 2013As you may have seen in previous emails, as of June 30, 2013, our organization has changed our name to Camp Wyandot Inc. and we no longer have an affiliation with Camp Fire.
This was a decision that was not made lightly and has been many months in the making. Our membership and Board of Directors decided based on charter fees that had accumulated since 2008 that it would be in our best interest to disaffiliate and settle our debt with the national organization and from here on out keep those funds locally.
While our name has changed, we have not. We are still a non-profit organization with a mission to provide an inclusive, nurturing environment for youth to have fun, make friends, serve others, and explore the great outdoors. We will continue to provide quality camping experiences to your children as Camp Wyandot, Inc. We remain an American Camp Association accredited camp.
If you have any questions or concerns, we invite you to discuss the matter with me, one of our Camp Directors, or any Board member. I would be more than happy to talk to anyone who has questions.
We have a rich history of 100 years as a Camp Fire Council and we are excited about the next 100 years as we continue to serve the youth and families of Central Ohio as an independent organization.
