Lindsey Christ, Executive Director, will sadly be leaving us at the end of August after nearly 3 years with the organization. She is expecting her second child, a baby boy, in September. She will continue teaching at Columbus State Community College where she teaches Biology and Botany classes. Lindsey helped the organization through a challenging transition with the disaffiliation from Camp Fire USA and rebranding as Camp Wyandot, Inc. that included the launch of our new Wyandot Explorer Club. The job posting for the Executive Director will be on the website by June 1, 2014.
With the increase in summer camp registration and all our marketing efforts, assistance in the office is greatly appreciated. Sharron Arnold and alumni Jeanene Dixon, and Sue Lavitchka volunteered earlier this year to promote our camp programs to schools through flyers and camp fairs. Also Rogan Hoefer assisted with developing our mailing list to schools as our spring intern.
Gumar Leger, our office/marketing intern this summer, is majoring in Agribusiness and Applied Economics at The Ohio State University and will graduate next year. He previously worked for the Lakota YMCA with the youth sports programs. He provides office support in a multitude of ways including summer camp registration, updating our mail list, analyzing our camp statistics, and conducting research for us. This summer he will also help us launch our new database.
Additionally, Megan Collins has provided assistance with preparations for Wyandot Day Camp prior to her work as a counselor for her second year there. Megan will be a senior at the University of Dayton this fall. When she graduates she plans to become an Intervention Specialist. She is also a runner for the University of Dayton’s cross country and track team.
Chanika Svetvilas, our Program Coordinator, recently graduated from Goddard College, Port Townsend, WA, a self-directed independent study program, with a Master of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts in April 2014.
