Candy Sale: March 5 – April 15. Each child’s fair share is 30 bars sold to receive an emblem. We have found it is not too hard to sell this much. Let me know how many bars your club would like by Feb 28th, so I can have them for you the day of the Bead Fair.
COSI Overnight: As of 2 weeks ago there were still openings for the March 18th family/co-ed COSI overnight. If you would still like to register call 614-228-2674 x1702. You can pay with a credit card over the phone up to 2 weeks before the event. My club is going and I would LOVE to see some familiar faces.
King Avenue United Methodist ~ Keepers of Nature Club
Lisa Norris’ Starflight Club – The Keepers of Nature completed their Gift of Giving Emblem by helping the Humane Society. When you’re down and troubled and you need some loving care . . . You’ve got a Friend! We learned about the meaning of “community” and the importance of helping others. After a Special Guest veterinarian Katie Carullo spoke to the club about the needs of animals and how to help, the club decided it would hold a toy and treat drive for the Capital Area Humane Society. The King Ave United Methodist Church members, as well as our own friends and family members, generously responded to our requests for donations and our club donated over 15 boxes of toys and treats! We took an early December fieldtrip to the Capital Area Humane Society to deliver goods, learn about and play with the dogs and cats. The club also participated in Magazine Fundraiser for Central Ohio Council. The club was even featured in the Capital Area Humane Society Newsletter.
The Tigers That Eat Pizza Club ~ Led by Lisa Graham
The Tigers That Eat Pizza Adventure Club has been very busy this year. Two of our favorite activities were helping at the Columbus International Festival and visiting the Norton Road Veterinary Hospital. This was the first year they were old enough to clean tables at the Columbus International Festival. They took on the task with enthusiasm and even worked a second hour stamping passports for the community service part of their Trail Seeker Award. When we set out to earn our Fantastic Pets Emblem the kids were excited, but not as much as when we visited the vet hospital. Dr. Susan Borders of the Norton Road Veterinary Hospital showed us a fabulous time. We saw all sorts of things that came out of animals, checked out the operating room and even got to see x-rays! Photos from both events are below.
Alice Hohl’s Little Stars Club (Pre-school age)
This was a note received from our Little Stars Club led by Alice Hohl, “Fun meeting last night! We talked about the moon, and trees, and where pinecones and acorns come from, and why the ground gets wet when snow melts, and we used flashlights to discover all the things you find when the snow melts.”
