A PLEIN AIR WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP
IN THE PICTURESQUE HOCKING HILLS OF OHIO

August 4 to 7, 2024

Lisa Schorr

Come join us for a relaxing and creative time at Camp Wyandot.  The event is four days and three nights, starting with dinner and an evening session on Sunday and ending after breakfast on Wednesday.

Lisa Schorr – Artist and Instructor

Currently Lisa is teaching watercolor at the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio in Lancaster, Ohio, and offers private lessons in her home.

At Camp Wyandot, Monday and Tuesday will be full “study to studio” workshop in a variety of locations around camp.  The younger campers have all gone home, so this is a relaxing adult event.  Our adult workshop will focus on landscape painting, including some classroom instruction and will be open to all painting abilities.

Each day you can expect helpful critiques, lectures and demonstrations.  Lisa will share her approach to painting outdoors.  Whether you are an artist of not, this is a wonderful time to relax and enjoy the beauty of Camp Wyandot.  Walk the trails or sit in the shade of hemlock trees and enjoy the evening sounds of frogs, owls, and whippoorwills at night.

Fee:

The fee is $275 for the workshop, with meals, and lodging.  The fee is $225 for those who prefer to commute, who will be served lunch and dinner only, and for adults who want to come as a friend of a participant, but are not wanting to paint.

Sunday Check-in:

Sunday check-in is between 4 and 5 PM and check-out will be Wednesday from 11 to noon.  You will need to bring your art supplies, etc. to paint outside.  (Lisa also has some supplies for sale if you need them.)  You will also need bedding, walking shoes and clothes appropriate for the weather.  The swimming pool will be open one afternoon.  Since we will be in the woods, mosquito repellant is advised.

Camp Wyandot Facilities:

Screened cabins overlook Lake Atagahi and are nestled among a variety of trees and sandstone outcroppings.  Guests stay in the rustic lakeside cabins that the campers have just vacated.  They have 6 single beds and a dressing room.  They do not have electricity or water.  The bath house is located just down the path and has private showers and toilets.

Our Artists at work!

Cabins have a minimum capacity of two persons.  You can choose to share it with up to 4 of your friends or meet some new friends.  (There are a few cabins that have bathrooms upon request by those who require a bathroom in their living quarters. These are special requests and are shared facilities.)  The camp has nice trails but the walk up the trail to the dining hall is hilly and not wheelchair accessible.  Meals and classes are in the dining hall, but there are beautiful outdoor sites to paint.
