Greetings From Connie (Luige)

I am honored to serve as your new Camp Wyandot, Inc. Acting Executive Director.  For the past 4 summers I have enjoyed being the Wyandot Overnight Camp Director. This is a return to Ohio where I grew up in Camp Fire and went to Camp Wyandot as a camper, CIT, staff member, camp director and council district director. Since leaving I have directed camps in 4 states and Malaysia, and served on the national staff of Camp Fire, USA and ACA. I have had the pleasure of teaching CD courses around the world for the International Camping Fellowship.  I truly appreciate the solid background Camp Wyandot gave me.

Now back home I am adapting to changes, reconnecting with old friends and making new young ones.  Likewise, Camp Wyandot has both an exciting future and some challenges to face. Your board has taken us through some difficult times and worked hard to position us to continue to serve the children and families in Central and Southern Ohio. We have Explorer Clubs to grow, day and overnight camp programs to strengthen.  There are more alumni to find and involve.  We have continued to operate a beautiful camp in the Hocking Hills without missing a season since 1928. The maintenance and upkeep of our camp is critical to the experiences we provide.  Today’s kids need these kinds of experiences more than ever.

As a new nonprofit our support systems are different but many of our needs are the same. Our greatest asset is and always has been people working together to pay forward quality experiences for the next generations.  Youth participants, volunteers, staff, alumni, board members and supporting members give their time, talents and dollars to make these experiences a reality. You should be receiving a post card this week inviting you to come and hear more at our Annual Camp Wyandot Luncheon on November 14th. In addition, check our website for other ways to keep up to date and be involved.

Play a part in impacting childrens’ lives and help create new Wyandot memories for everyone.  Whether you are just beginning your involvement with Camp Wyandot or been around for a while we have a niche for you. I look forward to working with you.
