In Memory of… Lonnie Simpson

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Lonnie A. Simpson, Husband of our beloved Grace Simpson (Sunny) on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.  Lonnie was born on July 1, 1932 in Sharon, Pennsylvania and lived his childhood days in Brookfield, Ohio.  He entered the United States Air Force in the enlisted ranks and rose to become a Major.  He loved flying.  He served for 3 years in Viet Nam, flying over 200 successful combat missions.  He was also a Command Instructor Pilot.  After retirement, he worked for Rockwell International, Metropolitan Life Insurance and finally Huntington Bank.  Lonnie enjoyed being a Mason and in the 80’s served on the board of directors of Camp Fire, USA, including the role of President.  Lonnie and Grace led their children, Lori Buchanan and Scott Simpson through the Camp Fire program and volunteered for countless council events, at Camp Wyandot and at Camp Otonwe for many years. A Graveside Service was held Wednesday, May 31, 2023.  The family had asked for donations in lieu of flowers, to contribute in Lonnie’s memory, please donate to Camp Wyandot, 4400 North High St., Suite 413, Columbus, Ohio 43214.
