Longtime board members Sue Lavitchka and Jessica Pierfelice both completed their terms of service to the Camp Wyandot Board of Directors as scheduled this year.
The board would like to thank Sue and Jessica both for their dedicated service. Both of them were volunteer board members during the demanding years as Camp Wyandot designed, chose and completed its disaffiliation from Camp Fire USA. The board during that time did a heroic job of preserving relationships, property and traditions, and Sue and Jessica were an integral part of actions that resulted in the stable, independent organization we have today.
Sue is a camp alumna who brought her technical skill and loyal volunteerism to bear on the organization. For many years, Sue coordinated Camp Wyandot Inc.’s participation in Community Shares, which is a workplace-based, payroll-deduction giving program in Central Ohio, which allows donors to give to Camp Wyandot and other worthy charities conveniently through their paychecks.
Jessica is also a camp alumna, and a research scientist at Battelle. Jessica served as board chair for several years, completing her term as chair in January and mentoring Alice Foeller as she began her term as board chair. Jessica’s organizational skills and attention to detail left the board a legacy of proper procedures, a strategic plan, and a solid structure to move into the future. Under Jessica’s leadership, the board began having an annual retreat to kick off the new year, and saw Camp Otonwe day camp grow from its fledgling new site into a successful phase of day camp programming that provides revenue to the organization.
On behalf of the board, we thank Sue and Jessica for their many years of dedication attending board meetings, volunteering, working on financial and programming plans and fundraising to keep our programs strong!
Each year, Camp Wyandot, Inc. interviews and accepts a few new board members who are interested in leadership, youth programming, finance, fundraising, organizational development, and/or other professional areas. We also have a number of committees that require a minimal time commitment, such as a monthly conference call. If you are interested in serving on a committee or on the board, please contact Alice Foeller at 614-887-7483.
