Camp Wyandot Overnight Camp is On for All Sessions!

Camp Wyandot Families and Friends,

Updated June 3: We officially have the green light from the State of Ohio to hold DAY camp AND OVERNIGHT RESIDENT CAMP this summer! The state has announced guidelines and restrictions for both types of camps, and we will be following all of the recommendations to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for both campers and staff. We will remain in close communication with parents and staff if circumstances change.

We have been working closely with our expert advisors to design a plan using these guidelines to put into action this summer at Otonwe and Wyandot for 2020. We have closed our sessions at half-capacity, to prepare for a lower-density camp environment, so if you find that your week of choice is full, please call or email to see if there have been changes or to be put on a Wait List. If circumstances allow us to expand to accommodate more campers, you will already be on the list!

At camp there will be special screening including taking temperatures upon arrival and daily along continuous monitoring of required health and safety practices and cleaning procedures. Individual cabin or small groups will be even smaller, meals will be served by cabin tables in two shifts and all activities will be done in cabin groups. We have addressed all of the guidelines and expect to have a great summer without large all-camp gatherings and activities.

Camp Wyandot is a nonprofit organization, employing good people and operating largely on revenues from donations and camp registrations.  If you wish to cancel your current reservation there are several options available for transfers and refunds that we would be happy to discuss with you. Please email info@campwyandot.org for more information.

Previous notices:

In an effort to abide with the Governor’s imposed “stay at home” order effective at midnight March 23rd through May 29th, Camp Wyandot will be closed except for those that have a specific purpose and prior permission from Connie Coutellier or Chuck Woodrum to be there. While we know that camp, nature and the outdoors are a refuge at times like these but we must protect those that provide security and have responsibilities or permission to be at camp. This is to help limit the spread of the coronavirus. We will notify you when the situation changes so for this period please “stay at home”, be safe and do not come to camp to hike or visit without obtaining PRIOR permission from Chuck or Connie.

We want to share the measures we are taking and the information we will use moving forward. As an organization of ACA-accredited camps, we continue to monitor the advice of the World Health Organization (WHO), the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the local public health departments that have jurisdiction over our camps, the American Camp Association (ACA), the Association of Camp Nursing (ACN), and our camp nurse. All decisions—either to carry out current plans or make changes—are made in consultation with medical professionals and our colleagues at accredited summer camps across the country. Our staff and campers’ health is our foremost priority.

We are preparing for summer, when our facilities will be inspected by Hocking County Health Department prior to camp opening.

In following the direction and recommendation of our governor and health officials, our staff will working from home or only be in the office occasionally for the next few weeks. We prefer you communicate by phone or email and we will get back to you promptly. We will be conducting interviews and holding meetings by phone or video conference.  We will see you at camp this summer.

Wyandot Love,

Your Camp Wyandot leadership
